So you’re feeling too fat to be photographed . . . Sharing My Friend Teresa Photography’s Blog.

As a photographer I often hear “Oh I don’t like having my picture taken”  I myself say the same thing, that’s why I like being behind the camera too.  Today, I came across a blog post by a photographer from NC, named Teresa Porter.  (http://www.myfriendteresa.com/)

I found myself stuck by her post.  So much so I e-mailed and asked her permission to re-post her blog here for you to read. Teresa, Thank you for allowing me to pass on this message.

Now those of you who know me will probably be saying “Oh lord she doesn’t have a clue! She’s not plus size” and you are right, but I have insecurities about how I look in pictures and this blog while it is titled “So you’re feeling too fat to be photographed . . .”  can apply to every insecurity that a person can have about having their photo taken and why we need to get past it.

So you’re feeling too fat to be photographed . . .

Listen. I hear you. You’re a few pounds heavier than you like (or a 100lbs heavier than you like). I completely understand how you feel.  I get that same blah feeling about myself when I think about booking new head shots or long overdue pictures of me and Justin.  Precious, I even picked a career that has me permanently behind the camera rather than in front of it.  Seeing myself in pictures actually produces the faintest sick feeling in my stomach.  Isn’t it amazing we can see the beauty in our best friends, sisters, mothers, and aunts without the slightest thought to their flaws . . . but can obsess for hours on our own imperfections?
